Over the years both in my own country and in other countries I have seen many children who were wounded, and very poor. Every time I was filled up with a sense of desperation and a desire for doing something for them. This was the reason why I became a clinical psychologist and have been doing humanitarian work all over the world.
I have met many poor and traumatized people and minority groups in different cultures.
I learned that “love” is the greatest fortune in this life, those who are unloved are the poorest people.
I learned that the most important condition of being a 'human' is to share pain, poverty and wealth.
Only by holding on to each other we can build a humanity that is loving, peaceful and always has hope.
There is a Cellaleddin Rumi’s saying that stays in my heart since I first heard it:
"You will rise like the Sun if you light a candle for someone who is in pain"
Be the Sun…. with Love,
Ayten Zara
